JOURNEY TO MSINGI
Eddie’s vision began with his passion to further education across Africa. He is originally from Liberia, and he and his family are victims of the two civil wars that devastated the country. Over the course of time and many challenges, he became convinced that education will be the key to building a strong and thriving international community in Africa. However, his experience with children and youth, along with his child social worker spouse, Lisa, showed him that communities need a stronger foundation (Msingi) to reach the kids, their families, and the stake holders in each city.
“We chose soccer not because it is a cool game, but strategically soccer makes sense. Soccer is a common theme across the continent, and across the world. It is an international language in itself. It is a common thread that connects children that dream to make something of themselves. So, it makes strategic sense to use soccer to introduce skills necessary to build communities, such as teamwork, discipline and leadership.”
